Lighthouses of England

The lighthouses of Hampshire include some very fine structures with fascinating history. Hurst Point lighthouse is located at the north of the western entrance to the Solent, whilst Needles lighthouse marks the south of the channel. However, ocean liners and other merchant ships entering Southampton Water use the eastern entrance (see below). The lighthouse at Lepe, near the Beaulieu River is a very recent addition, built only in 2000.
